Содержание показать

Overview

We continue to present data on the volume of exports of main Belarusian export goods by railway transport for 9 months of 2024. In the first part, we provided data on the volume of exports of main Belarusian export goods by railway transport, destined for Russia and via its ports to third countries for 9 months of 2024. This publication concerns the export of Belarusian goods to Lithuania and Latvia, as well as exports through their seaports to third countries.

The data provided below is operational and may differ slightly from actual figures*. However, it is sufficiently accurate for analysis and a general understanding of the current situation regarding export railway transport from Belarus.

* The data presented in this publication is based on preliminary (operational) information regarding the export volumes of products and goods (hereinafter — goods) from Belarusian enterprises for 9 months of 2024, transported by railway transport in the direction of Belarus – Lithuania and Belarus – Latvia. Final data may differ slightly within a margin of error of approximately ±3-6%.
** All cargo names in this material are provided in accordance with the Unified Tariff and Statistical Nomenclature of Goods (ETSNG).
***For convenience, the data in the material is sorted by station in descending order of the total weight of delivered goods.
**** This material is presented solely as statistical information and does not contain analytical assessments.

For 9 months of 2024, railway transport remained one of the key channels for exporting products from Belarus to Latvia and Lithuania. Among the most significant bulk cargo transported during this period are:

  • Rapeseed oil — was one of the most significant bulk cargo exported from Belarus to Latvia and Lithuania. This cargo was exported both to seaports for further export to third countries and to the domestic markets of Lithuania and Latvia. The largest number of deliveries passed through the Port of Riga and Mangali station. The largest exporters are CJSC Maslora, OJSC Vitebsk Oil Extraction Plant, LLC Agroprodukt. It should be noted that, according to an investigation by the Belarusian Investigative Center (BIC), the company LLC Agroprodukt is involved in schemes related to the illegal export of agricultural products, particularly rapeseed, from the occupied territories of Ukraine. These seeds were supplied to Belarus for further processing and export.
  • Oilcake meal (oil content not more than 1.5%) — also represents one of the most significant export goods by volume, transported from Belarus to Latvia and Lithuania by railway transport. This type of product was sent both to seaports for further export to third countries and to the domestic markets of Lithuania and Latvia. The largest exporters were LLC Biopromservice, LLC Globalagrokhim, LLC Dary Polei Plus.
  • Beet pulp (pressings, pomace) — another product occupying a significant place in the volumes of the considered export. It was also exported to seaports and to the domestic markets of Lithuania and Latvia. The largest exporters are OJSC Skidel Sugar Refinery, OJSC Slutsk Sugar Refinery, OJSC Zhabinka Sugar Factory.
  • Goods in large-capacity containers — a separate category that accounts for a significant volume of exports. It should be noted that a significant part of the volume consists of the return of empty containers. Various types of products were transported in large-capacity containers to both ports and the domestic markets of Lithuania and Latvia. Frequent senders include: OJSC Belsolod, LLC STL Logistic, LLC Agroprodukt.
  • Molasses (beet molasses) — also constituted one of the significant export volumes. Large volumes of molasses deliveries were made to the Latvian stations Liepaja and Daugavpils. The main exporters were: OJSC Skidel Sugar Refinery, OJSC Slutsk Sugar Refinery, OJSC Zhabinka Sugar Factory.
  • Steel wire rod and ferrous metal products — these goods were also massively exported to Latvian stations such as Ilguciems and Daugavpils. The exporter is the company KAZ CONSTRUCTION CO.

In total, it can be highlighted that the most significant bulk cargo in exports are rapeseed oil, oilcake meal, beet pulp, goods in large-capacity containers, molasses, steel wire rod, and ferrous metal products. These types of goods constituted the main part of railway transport from Belarus to both the seaports of Lithuania and Latvia (for further export to third countries) and the domestic markets of these countries.

Further, generalized and detailed information on export shipments from Belarus to stations of the Latvian Railway (LDZ) and Lithuanian Railway (LTG) is provided, including data on volumes and content of deliveries to both the domestic market and port terminal complexes.
